Just one more day and it is October. What will you be reading this coming month?
i did finish Septmber's book, 'Seasons of Life' by Jim Rohn; another book i highly recommend reading. It is an easy read and the slow reader I am took only 2 days total. Derived from one of the oldest metaphors across all cultures, the seasons, the book is full of insights and lessons in a way that is new and refreshing. It gives practical ways on how to handle the inevitable as well as the controllable things in our life.
Since The Seasons was such an easy read, I added 'Getting Things Done' by David Alen for the month. It was only a couple of hours as an audiobook. Very well written from a professional organizer and time management consultant. Because of this book, I revamped my organizational household journal. I've taken pictures of it to show you. i just need to upload it now. Keep posted and i should have it up on here in a couple of days. This new binder is way more efficient and it makes sense. There is no more hiding of papers in this thing.
With my body going back to normal after giving birth, I am revisiting fashion and the first book I read on it is Victoria Beckham's 'That Extra Half an Inch.' Lovely book.... everything from the affordable to the luxurious, she features in here. I have put a couple of tips to use already but definitely this arena of my life need an overhaul. It is a great read, as if your girlfriend is talking to you, and it helps knowing that she somewhat has a clue of life with kids as she has 2 little ones herself. It is hard not to read this book and not want to go shopping. When I read the first chapters almost 3 weeks ago, I wanted a pair of dark perfect fitting denim jeans and to this day, I am still itching for some. But with a tight budget, and with kids needing winter clothes, it just has to wait.
My books from Amazon and the local public libraries. There is little difference between those who cannot read and those who will NOT read- The result of both is ignorance.- Jim Rohn

Getting Things Done is done
I listened to audio version of this book, about two hours long, in a matter of 2 days. My toddler thinks that the iPod is hers to listen to her ballerina music at all times or watch her Sesame Street podcasts.
The best thing I got out of this book is how to set up a system that worked for me. I have had a household binder that was alright but I was still all over the place. David Allen broke it all down and now I am so much more confident in meeting all the demands of motherhood, wifehood, the home, social events, and other personal interests of mine. I will never miss anything important to me again!

First Jim Rohn book I'm reading
If you ever need a good kick in the butt to get on course and stop complaining and blaming... THIS is the book to do it. A very easy read and that is coming from me, a very slow reader. I could have been done in less than three days of three short sittings but the hubby decided to reread and take the book to work with him after I had been sharing what I had picked up from it.
I definitely recommend that the whole world reads this. It will change you... you will become... and you will really live life to its greatest capacity.
I was telling my hubby how much I was really enjoying this book that he spent some $$$ to get me all of Jim Rohn's work.. He's got a way with me =)

Bible Study: Jesus & a pair of jeans
i want to do this as a Bible Study... anyone with me? I have not read the book but it has crossed my path this morning...
i was just saying last night that I need to get back into bible studies and also asked hubby for a perfect pair of quality jeans and this morning, i open up my email and there is a bible study with this book starting September 20. coincidence?
the reason i prefer to lead it is because with my hubby's work schedule, i can never do anything constantly. his schedule is constant every other week and all over the place all the others... so bible study at my place?
The Ultimate Fashion Book
As I was perusing the cooking section of the library, I landed on the fashion section just a few feet from it and found this book. I must admit, that without tv, not listening to mainstream radio, or keeping ado with anything Hollywood, this name still somehow still managed to reach a point of recognition in my head and i decided to pull it off the shelf, releasing my hands from the stroller, and open it up.
I browsed the first few pages. Mom... like fashion... loves heels... love love her hair.... loves Betty Davis, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O and the styles of the 40s and 50s.... did i mention she is a mom?! We have these loves in common!
I take it home and I am just floored at all that she has in it. I had that feeling of being the biggest freshman loser in high school and the most popular senior girl is giving me all of her greatest secrets of all time - everything from the perfect jeans and the best way to get the hair and skin top notch. I had to put it down or i would have fully neglected any minute of hubby time... but my oh my... this book is the modern day guide to dressing up and being your prettiest.
All my years of looking for the perfect jeans and how i want them to look on me and not knowing what they are called or where to find them..... she solved it. Now I can literally go into a store (dozens listed in the book) and ask for exactly what I want or don't want... or simply show them the jeans page that VB is wearing and say I WANT THIS!

Audio Books is a great way to get reading
reading for me is a luxury... and though i have bought the hard copy of Eat Pray Love, i was only able to crack it open and follow along with the audio ONE TIME! But I am almost done with the audio book, behind my goal for completion yes, but moving along.
for those who want to read but can't sit down and crack open a book, try audio. for those who want to avoid the clutter that books can bring, try audio. for those in a $ pinch, try free.
the library have them for direct online download, you can check out the audio cds and import them to your ipod or MP3 player from your pc. and now.... drumroll..... Barnes & Noble offers the classics for free. Yes Free. Selections change weekly so grab them while you can.
