I am on Disc 3 of 11 discs (not sure where that is in chapters) and I am loving this book. i did not realize that i actually put it on reserve but was glad i did bc, like i said earlier, the audio is three times the cost of the book. Hubby did surprise me and bought me the book with the cover I wanted, though I have not been able to crack it open more than twice due to my kids. i can never sit still for too long.
Ever since I started it, everything around me seems to be about Italy.... Italian food is being served at Souplantation for this week, my husband out of the blue starts talking about visiting Italy one day, my friend who went to Malta came back and told me about Italy and its people.
Anyway, one thing I am liking about the book so far is her boldness to actually chase the pleasure of life that our culture can be so against sometimes. (Why is it that when we have vacation time, we pack it up with so much to do and end up more stressed than before? As if it's not ok to just do nothing?)
Before she heads out on her one year mission of being away, she started dreaming, and then she put it into action. I am not saying that we leave our family and kids behind, which she does not btw, but sets out a goal to become a better her. Hers was to explore her inner self and face her inner self with all the extremities that she has been so used to and has grown on her that has in turned blurred out things which she now is ready to discover.
Many times, people start to dream again when things are so bad. In the book, things go pretty bad for Elizabeth in terms of dependency on men and personal battles of depression. But why wait?
Dream today. It does not matter how much money is in the bank or what ties us down. Dreaming is free, available to all, and transcends time and limitations. Take note of that popular quote, Go into the direction of your dreams. Even if you feel you cannot, just having them in mind will eventually get you there. So do it.... start dreaming.
I got this in my email this morning from my Jim Rohn newsletter:
Despite all of the factors that affect our lives—like the kind of parents we have, the schools we attended, the part of the country we grew up in—none has as much potential power for affecting our futures as our ability to dream.
Dreams are a projection of the kind of life you want to lead. Dreams can drive you. Dreams can make you skip over obstacles. When you allow your dreams to pull you, they unleash a creative force that can overpower any obstacle in your path. To unleash this power, though, your dreams must be well defined. A fuzzy future has little pulling power. Well-defined dreams are not fuzzy. Wishes are fuzzy. To really achieve your dreams, to really have your future plans pull you forward, your dreams must be vivid."
So dream.... and may your days be brighter doing so =)
